Dr. Kenya Batts

Dr. Kenya Batts, Principal

Welcome to the Davis family! I am Dr. Kenya Batts, and I am honored to serve as the proud principal of Davis Elementary School. Since joining the Davis community in 2016, I have been committed to creating a school where every child feels valued, inspired, and empowered to succeed.

With more than 25 years in education, I believe every student can achieve great things when surrounded by caring adults, high expectations, and meaningful learning experiences. I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, my master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, and my doctorate in Educational Leadership from Virginia Tech. Throughout my career, I have served students as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal.

At Davis, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Our dedicated staff creates a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment where students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We encourage all students to live our ROAR expectations each day: Respect, Organization, Positive Attitude, and Responsibility.

I believe strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success. I encourage families to stay connected by attending school events, joining our PTA, volunteering, and maintaining open communication throughout the year.

One of my favorite moments each day is greeting our students each morning with a smile, high-five, hug, or even a dance, ensuring every child knows they are seen, celebrated, and loved.

We are excited to partner with you because we are better together. Welcome to the Davis family—where Dragons ROAR and every child has the opportunity to shine!

Krysten Forbes, Assistant Principal

I am absolutely thrilled to join the Davis community and serve its students, families, staff, and community partners as your Assistant Principal! I bring with me a passion for education and a commitment to helping every student reach their fullest potential.

I am a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where I earned both my Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and my master's degree in Teaching. I later earned an endorsement in Administration and Supervision from Longwood University.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving as an elementary school teacher, instructional coach, math interventionist, student support teacher, and dean of students. Each of these experiences has strengthened my belief that strong relationships, high expectations, and a supportive school environment are the keys to student success.

When I'm not at school, you can usually find me spending time with my husband and our three children, attending concerts, or journaling. These activities bring me joy, keep me energized, and help me stay connected. I enjoy bringing that same positive energy into our school community.

I am incredibly excited for the adventures ahead and cannot wait to meet all of our amazing Davis Dragons! Thank you for welcoming me into your community. I look forward to learning, growing, and celebrating alongside you as we make this school year one to remember!
